Read Around the World Week 2021

Read Around the World Week runs from Family Literacy Day on Wednesday, January 27 through World Read Aloud Day on Wednesday, February 3.  Both FLD and WRAD are annual events which Drayton Valley Library has chosen to turn into a week long celebration of global reading this year.  We are so glad you decided to join us! Here are the main events that are happening:

Daily (Jan. 27-Feb.3) @ 10:00am - International "Story-on-Request" (YouTube)

Wed. Jan. 27 @ 1:00pm - Family Literacy Day & Read Around the World Week Kick-Off: Where in the World? (Zoom / Facebook Live)

This will be an introduction to the week, a chance to meet special guests, learn about continents, have a game, and find out how to participate for prizes!

Fri. Jan. 29 @ 10:30am - ABC 123 Concepts (weekly program): Colouring Continents (Zoom-registration required)

Fri. Jan. 29 @ 4:00pm - Creative STEAM (weekly program) Math Art: Couleur by Numero (Zoom-registration required)

Mon. Feb. 1 @ 10:30am - Crafty Kids (weekly program): Paper Bag Reading Crowns - to prepare for WRAD! (YouTube)

Mon. Feb. 1 @ 6:00pm - Distantly Social (weekly program) Tell-Me-A-Story: It Happened To Me! (Zoom-registration required)

Wed. Feb. 3 @ 1:00pm - World Read Aloud Day & Read Around the World Week Wrap-Up: Tell A Story / Read A Story (Zoom / Facebook Live)

This will be a conclusion to the week, a chance to say good-bye to special guests, and share your oral story reading or telling live or through recorded pictures or videos to earn a prize!
